The Adolphe Gesché File represents a patrimony of historic significance testifying to the vast activities of one of the most emblematic figures of the Louvanist school of Theology toward the end of the late twentieth century. The file consists of a collection of cards containing thoughts, lecture notes, summaries, citations and reviews assembled by Adolphe Gesché (1928-2003) during his lifetime, and remains a remarkably efficient tool for the study of his works and for identifying their sources.

The file consists of 55,721 cards sorted by topic (1650 topics) and stored in three filing cabinets. On each of the cards, Roman numerals refer to the number of the notebook in which A. Gesché used to archive his thoughts on a daily basis, while the Arabic numerals refer to the page number in this notebook where these notes can be found, followed by the exact date within brackets on which the archiving was done. Each card has at its centre a brief thought, lecture notes, a summary or a commentary by A. Gesché, and in some cases a citation from another author. There is a subject index in the upper right corner, handwritten in pencil.

The file is available in digital format with a search engine facilitating a search by keyword, subject, and by date
